About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
Although I went into renal failure as a baby, I have been extremely fortunate to have led a relatively normal and healthy life. I was only on dialysis when I was very little so I don't remember it. My kidneys plugged along until I was about 25, when I ended up needing a transplant. So far, things have gone better than my greatest expectations.I never thought I would have such a long healthy life.
I am so grateful for my health and have spent most of my life trying to give back to the community that has helped me so much. I am so honored to be a member of this group.

I had my son 7 yrs after my transplant. And no I didnt have to change any meds or lower any of them. It was a high risk pregnancy but there were no complications. They did a c-section 2 weeks before he was due so he would not push on my kidney(which is located on my lower left side in the front) but otherwise things were great. I even worked until the Friday before I had him on Tuesday. LOL. But also I am only on prednisone and imuran from my transplant and that is all I have ever taken. Let me know if any of this helps. swimming tomorrow, right? We might want to meet at 10am, as I think they have the masters swimming from 9-10. Maybe we can talk to the coach that way too. I'm pretty open. I have to work late that day. Phone banking...woo hoo!

yeah, it's kinda spendy. I agree, if we could find someone to just do some single sessions that would be ideal. I wish Bally's was more convenient for you! hope you are having a good day!

Hey, so I found out that masters program at Ballys costs $70 per month. Something to think about... They have a M, W, F 9-10am class. The gal that works there approached me about it after seeing me swim! I felt so good after that! ;-) I've had a nasty cold/flu thing since Wednesday night, though. Haven't swam since Wednesday morning. It's driving me crazy, but I think it's not a good idea. I would have liked to have disconnected my head and sinuses these past couple days. I've been really achy too. :( Poor me. Headed to Ashland this weekend, though. Should be fun and hope to be feeling better! Have a great weekend, friend!

Hey saw you wrote on Tom's page that you were being weened off prednisone, wanted to say congrats! I've had my transplant for 17 years and they just took me completely off prednisone this year...I've been off it going on two months...I love it!

So, you're pretty picky! Is murderous lunatic one criteria or two? I'm pretty sure he's not murderous but I think you can mark him down as a lunatic. As a matter of fact kid, if you're still on prednisone, I'm pretty sure you fall into that category as well! Me? A given. Raving lunatic! In fact, it's one of the things I do well.:)
Andy's a good guy despite the fact that he kicked me off of the freestyle relay at the world games in Ont. in '03.
I'm OK, have my doc appt next week so I'm starting to get "edgy". I got caught off guard with rejection the week after the Tx so I'm never confident until I hear my number. 1.6 is good. If I lost some weight, I'd get back to my post rejection 1.5. No inspiration. Old nickname was Shark, now it's Jabba!
Stay well!

Jennifer, do you know Andy Donnelly from Kansas (Oz by his definition). He's a pretty good swimmer for a land locked guy! He left a message on my page and I thought you would know the answer to his question better than I. He's a good guy and he hasn't bitten anyone in a long time. I think it's safe but you might want to wear gloves! Can you take a look at his message on my page and see if you can help him out? Thanks! Hope you are well.

yo! Yes, swimming this weekend sounds GOOD. I can do tomorrow if we go early, like our normal 9:30 time (have to work at 11:30-speaking gig), or pretty much anytime on Sunday. It's been a busy week (started in Chicago), but I've managed to swim 4 times, so that is good. I went in the dark last night after driving home from Crakima...I mean Yakima... lol. Hooray for new roofs! BTW...you have to watch this video-Laughed 'till I cried: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/266087/the_end_of_the_world/

Actually, I'm in hell. Dad always said I would end up here if I didn't get my act together. I guess he was right! Actually, I'm really here in Sunnyvale, Ca. AKA Home. I've been home for 3 wonderful weeks now and sleeping in my own bed. Just finished two weeks of trade shows and feeling like I'm 3" shorter!

The traveling circus leaves town next week and will make surprise visits throughout the US for the following 3 weeks. (Nashville, Longmont, CO, Minneapolis and LA!) Home a week and then off to China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore for a 3+ week excursion. If they ever put a lap pool in a 747, you'll see me in London in 2012 chasing Phelps!

Swimming with the Masters group is a good idea. You can get a lot of up to date information on technique and training methods. Also, they're normally a good group of people to hang with. Plus with the demands of your job, I think it would be a great outlet.

Thank you for the great work you do!
