I was in cheese-land in 2002 for the National Championship run (when we actually WON the big game as opposed to 2006 and 2007). I went every game home and away that year... except the NC game. I had just started a new job that December and didn't have vacation. The kick in the ass was that I was now working for OSU and I couldn't go! Wisconsin was beautiful, but I had cheese thrown at me and a grandmother dropped the f-bomb on me as she felt compelled to tell me what she thought of the Buckeyes before the game. :) I'd like to go back. Been to ever Big Ten stadium except Iowa and Minnesota... next year, baby!

Hey Tom,
Yeah, that was a true butt-kicking. We have no o-line and no d-line. Pryor will be great some day, but without a true running game, it will be tough. But it was great to be in the Coliseum (bucket list)..
See you Down Under! GO BUCKS!

I don't know him but would be happy to see if I can help. I'm gonna blame you though if he turns out to be a murderous lunatic! :) I am indeed doing well - I am weaning off my prednisone as we speak! I am stoked! Down to 2.5 mg/day - and going down from there (if all goes well that is). Hope you are well too. I don't know about you, but I have pretty much had zero time to get in the pool. Huge bummer! Take care til next time!

Tom, good to hear from you, how are things in sunny California?? I need to connect with Nick the Quick Carson, I have a dvd of his and I need to return it to him. All is well here in Oz. I have started a cool new job with Gift of Life, a local non profit and we are starting a mentoring program for people who are awaiting transplants to one year out. Of course I am excited to be a part of this and make it a success. There are only 2 or 3 programs like this in the whole USA. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Do you know of anything like this out there?? If so please let me know so that I can research it. I have not been a pool since Pittsburgh>> I need to get back in and swim some laps. Thanks for contacting me and I will talk to you soon, Andy

Hey! So where are you now? Uzbekistan? Latvia? North Pole? Things here in Portland Oregon are great - just waking up now as I was out all night on a donor case. I have to say I am so jealous that you have seen Michael Phelps swim in person - that would be something to see. I haven't had nearly as much time as I would like to hit the pool between work and my house remodel. But Laura and I are looking into going to a Masters swim hopefully at least once a week. Those scary block starts must be conquered!
Hope you are doing well!

OH MAN! That relay was insane!!!!!! You absolutely must find someone that recorded it. The final 20-30 meters was the most amazing thing I've ever seen - our guy Lezak was out of range. There was no way he was going to win - then all of a sudden he pulled ahead by a finger, I swear!!! The place went ballistic, you should have heard the announcer! Holy crap!!!! Watch a copy! You must!!!That makes me want to swim today - I'm meeting up with a teammate this morning as a matter of fact.
You better get back to the states soon - you don't want to miss out on anything else!! Take care!

Hey! Do you ever hear from any of the London's?

Aha! You are a "traveling salesman" - that makes sense now. What great turf you get to explore. I know it is not all fun - but sounds cool. That seems like it would be pretty challenging.
As for me, yes - my job can be very exhausting in so many ways, but I love it. I get to give back in a pretty unique way. The cool thing is that I get to do so many different things. Yes, we get to handle the tough, emotional stuff with the donor families. Once we get consent, we take over care of the donor patient - which is great because you get to be a bit of a detective and figure out how to stabilize the patient and get the organs functioning adequately so they can be transplanted. We line up recipients, get the OR set up and help the surgeons procure and then make sure the organs get where they are supposed to go. Many hats to wear so it is always interesting.
Anyway, hope the far east is treating you well and you aren't picking up any crazy super bugs (don't worry - there are a lot of things I don't tell my nephrologist either - shhh!). Hope you are busy training for worlds cuz it wouldn't be the same without you!

Hey! Wow - thanks for the great compliment! You had better make it to Australia - wouldn't be the same without you. So get your "A" game on now Mister! What do you do for a living that you are traveling so much? Singapore and Bangkok sound like pretty great destinations - but I suppose that depends on why you have to go.
It's great to hang out with fellow grateful and active recipients - thank you so much for helping me see that I am not alone. Take care!
