How are you touched by transplantation?
I am a Recipient
If you are a recipient, what type of transplant did you receive?

Recipients: In this space, feel free to list those you are grateful to for receiving the Gift of LIfe:
With this gift I was able to come off of dialysis after being on it for 6 1/2 years. I am only 34.
If you are a recipient, what type of donor did you receive your Gift of Life from?
Deceased Donor
If you are a recipient, when did you have your transplant(s)?
I received my kidney transplant Sept 30th 2007 but still had to do dialysis til Nov 14th 2007 as kidney transplants are not always what you expect them to be. I was hoping this time would be like that time .. but I guess each time is different.
What is your principal transplant med(s)?
Prednisone, Rapamune and Cellcept.

First transplant it was Prednisone, Cyclosporine, and Imuran.
What is your hospital and, or doctor's name, city / state and country?
I had my transplant done in London Ontario Canada.
About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
I help run an Awareness site with a girl who just had a kidney transplant weeks before her 21st birthday. Her site is **Changed because it seems no one wants links to sites that have awareness items for sale on them**
How did you find out about TransplantCafe.com?
Nelson told me about it and I had no idea who he was or that he ran this. He wants people to have a place to connect with others who have been there or are going through the same things.

Hey Angie

Glad everything is going well for you. I'm multiple transplant recipient also. Had my most recent transplant 11-24-07, right after Thanksgiving and after getting to see my niece for the first time who was born in July 2007

Thank you for your kind words. Our family has PKD and my sister is the first in the family with a kidney transplant that has lasted.(5 ½ yr) My uncle had one but due to infection died 3 mo later. The need to educate people about organ and tissue donation is an ongoing endeavor.

Angie,
So you know, for others to see your response to their comments, you have to hit "comment back" under theirs. Otherwise it gets posted on your page below and they don't get prompted of your response.

Hi Angie, nice you meet you. Congrats on both of your transplants! I hope you are feeling good now. :o)
What were you on before Rapa that you were allergic to? I was on PD before my transplant too. Luckily it was only for a month or so.
I have read some of your comments on the forums about jewelry and I know you can't post the link on here anywhere but if its not 'illegal' to do so, I would love for your to email it to me. If you don't mind, send me a message. Thanks! :o)

hmm.. so it seems people can link to sites that misinform but if you put money into making things to raise awareness that is bad because it is seen as a profit even though there is no money to be made? I can't help but be disappointed.

And yet there are google ads to the right of this right now as I type this saying to buy organs over seas .. go figure ..

Angie:

Sorry you and others had to take off your links for your donor awareness jewelry. I wanted the links or your pictures left on the site. That was what I was fighting for.

I was talking to Nelson about a discussion started on this site Organs Should be ....................... Don't want to mention the full name but you posted to the site.

I asked why there were double standards in the Cafe. Why he could push his site while others couldn't push their donor awareness jewelry.

Nelson's response was that his site was not for profit while the others make money. I commend you and others for speading the word on organ donation and donating part of you profits to organizations that do the same.

Pics of the bracelets and shirts have been taken down upon request. Sorry for any misconception that them being posted here was an exception to the rule as I was not aware it was not allowed. 3 hours go by and it seems like everyone blew it out of porportion ... :(

Sad to say but I will stick to my site instead when it comes to information for products on Organ Donation Awareness that donate 50% of profits to medical foundations.
