About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
I am soon to be 37 years YOUNG and am the wife of almost 17 years to Paul and the mom to 2 awesome teens, Zachary 14 and Kylie 12. My family keeps me in check when needed and next to my savior Jesus, they are my lifelines!

3 weeks before I was married I found out I had kidney failure. Not sure from what but when the doc told me I wouldn't see my 21st b-day I got defiant and said I don't think so. My dad gave me his kidney 8-25-92 and with that kidney I was still sick but healthy enough to have both my kids. In Aug 1998 I got the flu that wouldn't go away and lo and behold it wasn't the flu but my kidney rejecting. The tough thing about that rejection was my father had passed away a few years before and that kidney was the only living thing I had left of him. Well, my hubby insisted I take his kidney (how could I refuse!) and he ended up being a better match than my dad! God always knows! On March 9, 1999 I got a huge kidney from my hubby Paul that has worked perfect ever since! I am truly truly blessed! I'm still demanding as ever but loved as much as can be!

Weddicktransplant123.pdfHi Kimberly: What a coincidence, my husband also gave me my second kidney on 2-14-07. We have a new organ of romance-LOL. If you think about it, the kidney is more heart shaped than our heart. My first transplant was 11-6-72 from a donor family. All I was told is it came from a boy killed in a car crash. He was younger than me; I was 16 at the time. I was extremely blessed since my first transplant lasted for over 34 years. I gave birth to our two sons. Matt will be 21 in July and Brian turns 19 on May 31st. I went to college and received first my LVN license and went back to school and received an AS degree in nursing and earned my RN. I am keeping busy training for the 2008 Transplant Olympic Games in Pittsburg this July. I am doing the 5K, 100 meters, 200 meters, shot put and discus. My husband and I play on a coed oldies senior soccer team on Sundays. Our Team’s name is the Pioneers. We bowl with our younger son on a bowling league every Wednesday. I think that is enough for now-LOL. I will try to attach our transplant story that was in our local news paper. Nice to meet you and your picture also looks great. Looks like your hubby is a Marine? Chat again soon, Karen
