Yes they are Mason. There is a woman who had a single lung tx back about six years ago. She was re-listed about three weeks ago. I am up very early because I am getting ready to head to Cedars this morning. I have been fighting a cold now for what seems years. My Dr. Chaux wants to see me in clinic. Hope you are doing ok. I will have my cell phone with me today if you have any questions.

Hi Mason... good to meet you too. You never really know there are so many people out there just like you. Most days I feel as if people aren't listening any longer.
I was told when transplanted (after the actual operation) that I may need O2 for the rest of my life. I am guessing it is because they had to leave the right lung, and the new left lung was sliced.. bruised.. however you put it. While most of this has been no fairy tale I am still thankful for this opportunity. I have always been a bit different since being a child with asthma. Couldn't do this and couldn't do that. Now it is the same or worse.
I take 1 mg M,W,F of Rapamune and my level stays at 13 which is right where my dr wants me. I just agree and keep on taking it.
I do not like it when they add meds but when they take away it is wonderful.
I do hope the price of these life saving drugs becomes more affordable. It's odd that the insurance companies will pay for transplant but do not want to pay for the meds ? Hmmmm....
We will talk again soon and I am always available to any and all my brothers and sisters in transplant for any comfort, advice, or just chat. Just let me know. xoxo ♥ ♥ ♥

Mason, sorry to hear you are O2 again! I guess I'm lucky. I won't go on it again until I absolutely have too but PH is different than CF. I don't have CF in my new lungs. Do you get PH again? I have a close friend that had PH and was in transplant group with me, she's doing good at 6 years. My doctor has said I could get re-transplanted if necessary but I don't know if I'm up for that. Are you a candidate for re-tx? Talk soon. Peace & Love, Amy

Hey mason Congrats on your lung Transplant! Did you have your transplant because of CF? Anyway, as you read in my profile I had my transplant back in 2002 at Cedars. I love Cedars lung transplant team and program. Of course I am a bit biased :) The chief pulmonologist is DR. Chaux and he is great! He came to Cedars program from UCSD. Dr. Faulk is the newest pulmo doc and he is good also. The transplant coordinator is a kick. Her name is Brenda Kearney. She is a good laugh and has a nice Irish accent. She and Brian are very good and helpful. I enjoy it so much at Cedars I am a Volunteer in the Lung Transplant dept. I meet with people in Clinic on Thursdays who are coming in to be evaluated for transplant or who have just been transplanted. I also visit with patients who are in hospital for whatever reason. My job is really just to give some hope to lung recipients who may be worried about their future after transplant. It's nice to meet someone who has been around five years post lung transplant. They hold clinic on Mondays and Thursdays. If you would like to talk or have any other questions you are welcome to give me a call anytime. Just send me an email and I will give you my number.
