About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
I received a double kidney/Pancreas trx in 1990. Have been acrtive with
transplant atheletics isnce 1992. Lost both trx organs in 1997 while
competing in Austrailia. Received a kindey from my brother Randy (who ran track and CC for LSU) in 1998, and is still functioning. Received a second Pancreas from a cadaveric donor named Summer Gordon, whom
i was eventually able to find and now consider her family part on my own.
Lost the second pancreas around ~2003. Am still active in Transplant atheletics and in helping run High School Track and Field meets.
Have completed in each US game since 1992 except 2002, competed
in each World ames since 1997 except 2001, and each Canadian National games since 2000. I love to run and thank god each day for
my transplant which allows me to do this!

Me again...lol. Well, the European games were in Vichy in France..think maybe southern france?? The reason heart n lungs are separated is because statistics say that those type of organs - don't perform as good as smaller organs or return to level of fitness like liver/kidneys etc.. Do you know if that happens also in the USA? I am not so sure therefore if I will do well at the Uk games - but for me more about having fun too!! I did get 3 slivers at the Euro games. Oh good luck with the Canadian Games. and hope your legs are better now and well rested. my goodness - I've just waffled again (oh that English slang word again..for chatting heaps)..best go now..b4 take up too much space here...byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee x

Ah Matt, you beat me to it. I wanted to thank you for dinner and let you know my daughter was very impressed with you. Go figure. Just kidding. Thanks again, it was delicious and the company amazing. I am going to start training early. I mean it. I'd be happy with a bronze any day.

Hi Matt,

We are packing the car and the cheering section! If you have time and bump into Emily during practice, would you be able to show her how to use starting blocks? She is thinking about running the 100.

Hi Matt,

It's Emily's senile dad! Team MD doesn't have many male tracksters, so it's ok for us to cheer you on!

Hey Matt. :) Thanks! My lung issues are caused from a horrible staph pneumonia that i got when i was 12 (in 1993). I almost died, and it left my lungs permanently scarred. So i've been on oxygen since then. (15 years, whew) That's great that you compete in the Games. I'm planning on competing in the next one. (Hopefully) I'm a former competitive swimmer. I can't wait to get back into the swing of things :) Maybe we can compete against each other! :) hehe
