- About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
- I come from a family of 6 children,3 of which had cystic fibrosis.Our older sister passed away in 1976.My younger sister and myself have both had bilateral lung transplants and are doing well.I had fairly good health for a CFer for most of my life until the late 1990s when I began to become hospitalized quite regularly.I went to the Cleveland Clinic for my first pre transplant evaluation on 3-05-03 and my first post transplant PFT was on 3-05-05.I have done well but have had several bouts of pneumona,always in my lower right lobe.But so far so good.Life with my new lungs has been a serious upgrade from old life with my cf lungs.It's amazing how easy it is to forget the shape that I was once in,just getting by in that CF lifestyle,the coughing,achy,sore, tired,sick.It's all in the past like it was someone else.There are transplant challenges,more like a mystery of these new weird things that could go wrong.But for now they are just possibilities to deal with in the future.
