About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
I come from a family of 6 children,3 of which had cystic fibrosis. Our older sister passed away in 1976.My younger sister and myself have both had bilateral lung transplants and are doing well.I had fairly good health for a CFer for most of my life until the late 1990s when I began to become hospitalized quite regularly.I went to the Cleveland Clinic for my first pre transplant evaluation on 3-05-03 and my first post transplant PFT was on 3-05-05.I have done well but have had several bouts of pneumona, always in my lower right lobe. But so far so good.Life with my new lungs has been a serious upgrade from old life with my cf lungs. It's amazing how easy it is to forget the shape that I was once in,just getting by in that CF lifestyle, the coughing, achy, sore, tired, sick. It's all in the past like it was someone else. There are transplant challenges, more like a mystery of these new weird things that could go wrong. But for now they are just possibilities to deal with in the future.
