My Anniversary Song!

Hey All!

Since my 12 year transplant anniversary is coming up (eek! Where does the time go?!) my awesomely funny online friend, Trisha, created a fantastic anniversary song for yours truly. Enjoy!

P.S. The lil tidbits she wrote (pancakes, teddy bear, etc.) are all true submitted by me. J

I wrote this to the tune of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”….HILARIOUS!!! I hope you like it because you deserve it girl!! Happy Transplant Anniversary!! <---written by Trisha

“I’ve Been Waiting on My Transplant”

Oh I’ve been waiting for some lungs here
All the live-long day
And while I’m sucking crummy wind here
Could you throw a heart my way?

I heard the transplant beeper calling
To rise up so early in the morn
I was barely even moving
The beeper should’ve had an air horn!

Oh, Kimmy won’t you go
Kimmy won’t you go
Kimmy get your heart and lungs
Kimmy won’t you go
Kimmy won’t you go
Get ready for your heart and lungs!

Now I have to start getting ready
Gotta be smelling like a rose
Better get me in the shower
Or grab a fire hose!

Cause I’ve been laying in my stench here
I can barely move two feet,
I smell like a pound of Roadkill
They’ll mistake me for DEAD MEAT!!

Oh Kimmy’s got to go
Hurry up and hit the road
Kimmy has to get her new heart and lungs
Kimmy’s got to go
Get with the flow
Kimmy’s gonna get a heart and lungs

Now let’s not forget about my dinner
A few hours before the call
Lonestar Steakhouse is a winner
Babybacks, French Fries and ALL!!

I think that I’m forgetting something…
I think I have lost my way
Oh! I have to sit at the computer
And make a card for Father’s Day!!

I just wonder what I’ll give him
The gift that will last for years
He didn’t even hear my beeper
So I think he needs new EARS!!

Oh, Kimmy has to go
She’s ready for the show
She’s getting a new heart and luuuuuuuungs!
Oh, Kimmy has to go
The star has hit the road
Now off to get your heart and lungs!

I am off to the transplant
Time to collect the goods
I’m grateful to my donor family
They did everything they should!

Can’t you hear the clock a-tickin’
Today is my fresh start
My donor’s lungs are now inside me
And the love of a beating heart!

Oh Kimmy now you’re done
You made it through the fun
Kimmy has a new set of Luuuuuuungs!
Oh Kimmy’s purple lips
Went to pink in a clip
Because Kimmy now has a heart!

I am ready to wake up now
I’ve been on this vent for days
My throat is feeling sore and scratchy
I’ll have to finger-spell my way…..UGH!

I think I could eat a horse now
And drink all the water in a lake
I’ll settle for some stinky ice chips
But I tomorrow I want pancakes!!

Oh, Kimmy is a success
She is no longer a MESS
Yeah, Kimmy has her heart and luuuuuuuungs!
Oh, Kimmy’s breathing brand new air
Holding her favorite Teddy Bear
Cause Kimmy has her new heart and lungs!

Now, here’s the ending to my story
I thank God for what I have
Because of a donor’s glory
I get to do everything I can….

So, give the great gift of life now
Be an organ donor today
Please don’t waste another second….
Because life just cannot WAIT!!!
